Hosted annually by the club, the Southern Rockhounds Gem Fair is a key community event in Adelaide’s south, featuring over 30 stalls from South Australian and interstate dealers. This year’s edition will take place on 31 October – 1 November 2026 at the Southern Rockhounds Clubhouse, 17 Gerald Court, Christie Downs, SA.

Features and Exhibits
- Stalls and Dealers: Over 30 stallholders offering rough mineral specimens, finished cabochons, and expertly crafted jewellery from Australian and international sources.
- Demonstrations: Live demonstrations showcasing lapidary workshops, faceting, silver-smithing, and carving techniques inside the clubhouse.
- Member Showcases: Themed exhibits curated by club members, featuring fossils, faceted stones, and rare private collection mineral specimens.
- Family Activities: Supervised kids’ fossicking sandpit area, allowing children to sieve for gemstones.
Venue and Visitor Information
- Important Rules: No dogs allowed on the premises, with the exception of registered service dogs. Note that cash is recommended for door entries and some stalls.
- Catering: Fully catered event with club-run food outlets offering BBQ, light refreshments, and Devonshire tea.
